Hitting The Sweet Spot

Delicious Irrisistibles

As we grow up there is one thing that definitely does not fade, that is the love for all things sweet. Although we may longer be surrounded around the small sweets tables at parties like children; when that sweet tooth kicks into gear, there is no stopping it. This little devilish sweet tooth is in huge competition with the healthy and fitness conscious angel sitting ones opposite shoulder. Although the health conscious angel may sometimes prevail, this is definitely on a rare occasion. In my mind, if your body is craving something, your body obviously needs it so you can’t deny your body the nourishment (or lack thereof); its simple biology.

As any girl knows, there is nothing quite like chocolate to smooth out even the roughest of days. Whether it is Cadbury or Lindt, there is just no way to say no to a little slab of happiness. Whether your craving is one for candy sweets, chocolate or smooth ice cream; I have found a mouth-watering recipe for Bar One Cupcakes that will give that sweet tooth a run for its money.

Home Is Where The Heart Is

Not Every House Is A Home: All It Takes Is A Little TLC

As in the world of fashion, trends of architecture and home decor come and go. In this manner, the old traditional houses that hold historic significance have now been renovated and modernized with white, open planned settings and high ceilings. Furthermore, as one’s home is a direct reflection of the family’s personality, it is important that the house is comfortable and well suited to a particular family or individual.

Although modern decor has emphasized clean lines, silver finishes and a polished white look, this is definitely not for everyone. I am however more of a traditionalist when it comes to decor and the home environment. Over the years I have learned to appreciate the tranquil feeling that white washed wooden floors and high ceilings many give a house, but i believe that these elements should be used in conjunction with warm, vibrant colours and patterns on different fabrics in order to make a house feel more comfortable and lived in. In this manner, the incorporation of different pieces of wood will give a house a cosy and natural feeling.

One element that I believe is essential to any house is that of flowers and pot plants as they bring a sense of nature into the house, by bringing to life the household environment. The incorporation of flora into the house makes all rooms aesthetically pleasing and welcoming to any guests.

As a home is never fully complete, but is rather a continuous work in progress; it is important to incorporate small personal touches that may be important to the family. One such addition could take the form of a wall of pictures that feature family members and serve as framed memories upon which the family and visitors can cast an eye.

Regardless of ones taste for architecture and home decor, it is fundamentally important that every family makes their home a unique representation of themselves, rather than focusing on the new trends of the time.

Life Is Fun When You Are Moving

As I’ve explaining the importance of the different dimensions to a person’s personality and lifestyle, health and fitness make up such a large proportion of my character. Over the years, doctors and other medical practitioners have stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the benefits that exercise has on both the mind and body. In recent years this advice has been taken on by so many people around the world who now engage in different sports, eat a balanced diet and set aside time to be outside.

I believe it is so important be get some fresh air and set aside time to be on your own whether it be running on the promenade or walking a dog. I’m sure may can agree with me when I say that my days of playing team sports at school was one of the best ways to feel happy and get energized. A little bit of competition goes a long way in achieving your goals whether it be a physical accomplishment or an emotional standing.

In order to lead a healthy lifestyle, it is essential to keep moving and be active on a daily basis. This lifestyle is one in which people are able to spend time with friends and family doing things that make them feel fit and thus healthy. This desire of a healthy lifestyle has been highlighted by the exponential growth in gymnasiums such as Virgin Active which have been sprawled across the globe. Floral Sensations

Beauty May Be In The Eye Of The Beholder, But Fashion Is An Art

Throughout history, women have searched for techniques and tools to make them appear more beautiful and be seen as icon. Although styles and traditions may change over the years, one thing is for sure; fashion and style are aisles upon which women today can paint the picture of their lives and who they wish to be perceived as. The progression of fashion from the voluptuous women of the Victorian Era dressed in detailed gowns and corsets, to the stick-insect runway models in short dresses; fashion has served as an outlet for women to express their sexuality. Just like most girls, I too have this flair for fashion and enjoy the idea of being part of a progression of trends and expression. Let’s just say, the one dimension of who I am is fundamentally based on a love for brightly coloured, often floral fashion choices which represent the girly girl side of myself.

Although I have been exposed to different types of fashion in stores, magazines, and all over the media; one thing still for sure, there are so many different fashion trends to choose from to make them your own. One fashion trend that has stuck with me throughout the years has been that of the bright, summery colours such as pink, turquoise, purple, yellow and green  that are all common features of my cupboard. If fashion has taught me one thing, everyone looks better when they are in a colour that is able to enhance their features and draw attention to them when they walk in a room. Who can deny that a little attention is never a bad thing? Although I am a sucker for some colour, one of the fashion trends that has stood the test of time and is undeniable is the essential requirement of the LBD (Little Black Dress). When having an outfit crisis, the answer is always that little black dress that is hidden in your cupboard that is flattering, simple and will not be scrutinized for being a repeat choice.

Lastly, when talking about style and fashion, it is only natural to discuss the art and flair of makeup. I for one am extremely proud of whoever came up with the idea for women to paint their faces in a way that covers up any blemishes and is able to enhance ones bone structure and natural beauty. Makeup is definitely one of my passions as i am constantly trying new techniques and colours, whether it be the simple use of mascara to brighten up your eyes, the infamous cat eye or a dark smokey eye; they are all available in the tool kit to be used when any occasion  arises.

One of my favourite quotes about fashion is from none other than Miss Coco Chanel herself,

“A girl should be too things: classy and fabulous”.
